I can't unstake on Compass — what do I do?

There's a known unstake bug on Compass mobile (Compass support has acknowledged it). The fix: import your Compass seed phrase into Sei Wallet. Your stake and any pending unbonds appear in Sei Wallet's staking page. You can manage them from there without relying on Compass.

My balance disappeared on Compass — is it lost?

Almost always no. Compass had a UI bug where balances after unstake appeared zero even though the SEI was in the unbonding period — it didn't wipe your balance, it just stopped showing it. Once you import your seed phrase to Sei Wallet, Sei Wallet shows the unbonding state correctly. If your SEI is genuinely missing, check the address on seitrace.com — the seed phrase always derives the same address.

Compass support didn't reply to my unstake issue.

You don't need Compass support to migrate. The chain doesn't care which wallet talks to it. Import your seed phrase to Sei Wallet and the chain state is the same — same balance, same stake, same unbonds.

I'm worried about losing rewards during migration.

You won't. Staking rewards accrue on-chain regardless of which wallet displays them. When you import your seed phrase to Sei Wallet, all your accrued rewards are visible and claimable.

Should I claim rewards before migrating?

Optional. If you claim before migrating, the SEI enters your available balance. If you don't claim, the rewards stay delegated and visible in Sei Wallet after import. Same end state either way.

What happens if I miss the May 28 deadline?

Your funds are still on-chain — the seed phrase still controls them. But Compass's app and infrastructure stop working, so you'd need another wallet (Sei Wallet, Keplr, or any chain-compatible wallet) to access them. Migrating before the deadline is simpler.

Migrate from Compass Wallet to Sei Wallet

Compass Wallet shuts down on May 28, 2026. If you have SEI in Compass, you need to move it before then. This guide walks you through it in about 15 minutes. Before you start

Your Compass seed phrase (12 or 24 words). If you don't have it written down, see /recover-wallet.
Sei Wallet installed on your computer.

Step-by-step

Step 1 — Note your current state

Open Compass and write down your SEI balance (delegated + available), your active validator(s), any pending unbonds (Compass calls these "pending unstake"), and any other tokens (USDC, custom tokens) you hold.

Step 2 — Export your Compass seed phrase

In Compass: Settings → Backup wallet → enter your password → view seed phrase. Copy it down on paper. Don't screenshot. Don't paste into a doc. Don't email it. The seed phrase is the wallet — anyone who has it controls your funds.

Step 3 — Open Sei Wallet → Import wallet

Open Sei Wallet. On the welcome screen click "Import existing wallet" → "Use seed phrase".

Step 4 — Paste your seed phrase

Type or paste the 12 or 24 words from Compass. Sei Wallet validates the phrase before continuing. You'll be asked to set a password — this is a local password that encrypts the seed phrase on your computer. It is not the same as your Compass password.

Step 5 — Verify your balance and pending unbonds

Sei Wallet displays your address (now in 0x format — see /learn/sei-addresses for why) and your current SEI balance. Check that available SEI matches what you noted, delegated SEI matches your stake total, and pending unbonds appear in the staking page.

Step 6 — Re-stake (if you want)

Your stake follows the seed phrase automatically. You don't need to do anything. Validators, unbonds, and pending rewards are all delegations on-chain — Sei Wallet just shows them. If you want to re-stake to different validators, see /staking.
