Migration · From Keplr · Use both with the same seed
Migrate from Keplr to Sei Wallet
Keplr is not shutting down. It's a perfectly capable wallet for the broader Cosmos ecosystem, and many users keep using it for assets across multiple chains. So why migrate? Sei is transitioning to EVM-only through 2026 (SIP-3, completion target mid-2026). If Sei is your primary chain — most of your activity, most of your balance, most of your staking — a Sei-specific, EVM-first wallet gives you a better experience than Keplr's multi-chain abstraction.
This guide is for users who decided Sei Wallet fits their use case better. If you're not sure, compare Sei Wallet vs Keplr first.

When migrating from Keplr makes sense
You'd benefit from migrating to Sei Wallet if:
- Sei is your primary or only chain
- You want native EVM signing (0x addresses by default, sei1 read-only)
- You want native Sei staking with validator browser, calculator, and rewards tracking — without leaving the wallet
- You want first-class support for Sei dApps (DragonSwap, Yei Finance, Citrex) with deep links and connection shortcuts
- You want a desktop-native wallet (Win/Mac/Linux signed builds)
You'd be better off keeping Keplr if you actively use Atom, Osmo, Akash, or other Cosmos chains; care more about multi-chain abstraction than Sei-specific UX; or use mobile-first.
A reasonable middle path: keep Keplr as your multi-chain wallet, add Sei Wallet for Sei-specific use. Both wallets share the same seed phrase, so you only manage one backup.
Step-by-step migration
Step 1 — Decide if you want to keep Keplr too
If you have non-Sei assets in Keplr (Atom, Osmo, etc.) and you plan to keep using them, don't delete Keplr. Just add Sei Wallet alongside. Both can use the same seed phrase. If you only have Sei assets and want Sei Wallet to be your only wallet, you can remove Keplr after migration completes.
Step 2 — Export your Keplr seed phrase
In Keplr: Account icon → Manage Wallet → choose your wallet → View Recovery Phrase → enter Keplr password → view 12/24 words. Copy on paper. Don't screenshot. Don't paste anywhere digital.
Step 3 — Open Sei Wallet → Import wallet
Open Sei Wallet. Click "Import existing wallet" → "Use seed phrase".
Step 4 — Paste your seed phrase
Type or paste the 12 or 24 words from Keplr. Sei Wallet validates the phrase, then prompts for a new local password. This new password is independent from your Keplr password — they encrypt different copies of the same seed phrase, on different machines or different apps.
Step 5 — Verify balance, delegations, and unbonds
Sei Wallet displays your Sei address. Note this — for Sei it'll typically be in 0x form post-SIP-3. If your Keplr setup was using sei1 addresses, see /learn/sei-addresses and /migrate-cosmos-to-evm for the association step.
Step 6 — Optional: associate your sei1 with 0x
If you previously held SEI at a sei1 address and want the EVM 0x equivalent address to control the same balance, do an address association: Settings → Address Association → follow prompts. Read /learn/sei-addresses first if any of this is unfamiliar.
