Migrate from Leap Wallet to Sei Wallet

Leap Wallet shuts down on May 28, 2026 — the Leap team has confirmed this on their homepage and Twitter. If you have SEI in Leap, you need to move it before then. This guide walks you through it in about 15 minutes. Leap supports many Cosmos chains; Sei Wallet is purpose-built for Sei. If you also need to manage other Cosmos assets, we cover that in the FAQ.

Before you start

  • Your Leap seed phrase (12 or 24 words). Settings → Backup → enter your password to view it.
  • Sei Wallet installed on your computer.
  • About 15 minutes.

Step-by-step

Step 1Note your current state in Leap

SEI balance (delegated + available), validators you're staking with, pending unbonds (Leap shows these in the Stake tab), and any other Sei tokens (USDC, custom tokens, NFTs).

Step 2Export your Leap seed phrase

In Leap: Settings (gear icon) → Backup → enter your Leap password → view seed phrase. Copy on paper. Don't screenshot. Don't paste into a password manager. Don't email it.

Step 3Open Sei Wallet → Import wallet

Open Sei Wallet. On the welcome screen click "Import existing wallet" → "Use seed phrase".

Step 4Paste your seed phrase

Type or paste the 12 or 24 words from Leap. Sei Wallet validates the phrase. You'll set a new local password — this is not the same as your Leap password.

Step 5Verify your balance and pending unbonds

Sei Wallet shows your address (now in 0x format if Leap was using the EVM-side; sei1 if you were on the Cosmos side — see /learn/sei-addresses for why) and your current SEI balance.

Step 6Re-stake (optional)

Your stake follows the seed phrase automatically. Validators you delegated to in Leap appear in Sei Wallet's staking tab. You don't need to re-stake. If you want to switch validators, Sei Wallet lets you redelegate without an unbonding period — see /staking.

What about my Leap multi-chain assets (Atom, Osmo, etc.)?

Sei Wallet only supports Sei. If you have Atom, Osmosis, or other Cosmos chain assets in Leap, you have two options.

Option A: Import your Leap seed phrase into a multi-chain wallet (Keplr is the most common choice). Use Sei Wallet for Sei specifically and Keplr for everything else. Both wallets share the same seed phrase, so you only have one backup to manage.

Option B: Keep using Leap until May 28 and decide later. We don't recommend this — the May 28 deadline is hard, and Leap support degrades as the date approaches.
